A time for everything
Ecclesiastes 3, kept in step with the moon.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.Ecclesiastes 3:1 · ESV
Ecclesiastes 3 names twenty-eight times: a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, a time to embrace. Fourteen pairs of opposites that hold the whole sweep of a life.
This calendar lays those twenty-eight times over the lunar cycle, one each day. A time to embrace always falls on the full moon, at 100% peak illumination, verified against the U.S. Naval Observatory. Fourteen days earlier, a time to be born arrives with the new moon, so each cycle begins as the moon is born. After a time for peace, the sky rests a day or two, and it begins again.
The twenty-eight times
…then a quiet day or two, until the moon is new.
